South Africa has been on enforced lock down for almost 140 days.
Today our country statistics reflect 563 598 positive cases and 417 200 recoveries. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has suffered the loss of loved ones and to any business who has been negatively impacted by the epidemic.
Local travel restrictions were relaxed during the month of April, which allowed us to complete several local projects successfully in Middelburg, East London, Free State and Mpumalanga. Our current local survey projects continue without any delays.
We have implemented various protocols to ensure our crew, and anyone they come in contact with, are safe from infection.
For international survey projects, crew members undergo COVID training before departure and undergo quarantine upon arrival back in South Africa. Covid-19 Travel packs are available for each flight and regular decontamination and sanitising of equipment and aircraft take place at required intervals. Crew members also travel with contact tracking documents which are completed on a daily basis whilst on site, and action thorough risk assessments before entering each country.
Many African countries’ borders remain closed – our sales team is available to discuss alternative product offerings, including Satellite Imagery solutions, to help keep you functioning during the lockdown, and we would love to discuss your future lidar needs in preparation for a return to regular business.
Southern Mapping has managed to adapt to the “new normal” as it applies to aerial surveys and make our COVID plan for international operations available to all our clients, to assure you that we take all precautions necessary to ensure a safe survey environment.
