A lot has been written about the spatial and spectral resolution of satellites; however the temporal resolution of satellite observations is not to be ignored. With the advancement in capacity and capability of high resolution satellites, the commercial possibilities and applications of short revisit intervals of high resolution imagery are ever increasing. Although regular image capture with satellite data has long been practiced, the high costs and large minimum area requirements, linked to fairly slow processing and delivery chains, has limited the application to wealthier remote sensing consumers.
This has now changed with our newest product. Anyone can now request a monitoring solution for an area as small as a square kilometre, available within 48 hours, on your computer. In collaboration with Airbus Defence and Space and Pinkmatter Solutions, Southern Mapping is leveraging the agility of the Pléiades constellation to provide revisit intervals as short as one week, anywhere in the world. This solution is exclusively available worldwide from Southern Mapping.
